I love Martin’s writing, because in ADWD she spends a good part of her inner monologue thinking about the girl that was killed and wondering if she was becoming a monster. dragon game of thrones not today shirtAnd at the end, after Drogon carries her away from Mereen, she can’t remember the girl’s name. But she’s hearing the grass talk to her in Jorah’s voice, telling her to remember that she’s a dragon.It’s a wonderful setup for a much darker Daenerys.

One that wasn’t really conveyed in the show.Yup. This vision quest is one of my favorite scenes in the series. She finally has her "Kill the boy, let the man be born" moment, since she didn't have anyone like Maester Aemon to help her along with it. Visions of Quaithe, Jorah, Viserys,dragon game of thrones not today shirt all urging her to remember who she is. She is blood of the dragon, and a Targaryen of Westeros. She does not belong in Meereen, or Essos. She needs to shed her idealism, and grow up into Fire and Blood
